Welcome to The Giving Table

You may have already poked around, but if this is your first introduction, let me share with you a bit about the purpose of The Giving Table and how to engage with this website.
I'm Nicole, by the way. You can learn more about me here. I started this website because I was searching for some of the very information now located here, but struggled to find it in one organized space on the web. I'd been cooking for many years before becoming more conscious about the food I was eating. Eventually, I started to wonder where my ingredients came from, how the meat I was eating had been raised and became more interested in the connection between food and health. Once I knew where I stood, I started paying attention and devouring news articles and blog posts on the subject, ultimately leading to a desire to get involved, whether it be donating to an organization eradicating hunger or joining a CSA. Every little bit helps.
The Giving Table is a community. Once you’re informed on the key issues affecting our food systems today, you will be able to make decisions about how to move forward in ways that support your lifestyle and how to get involved in a capacity that you’re comfortable with. We’re all about making personal choices here. No judgment. No “this way is best” arguments. These are simply the facts, the information at hand. What you choose to do with the truth once you’re aware of it is up to you to decide.
If you're here, you must already care about food. The Giving Table exists to help your love of food translate into doing some good, too.
Here's the simple recipe:
Step 1 – Food Consciousness
Step 2 – Know the Issues
Step 3 – Get Involved
This blog is meant to be a conversation and I hope you’ll join in the discussion as we learn more about food and philanthropy together.

Nikole,
I couldn't be more excited about this new project. I can't wait to see how this evolves and think it's something that's desperately needed in the food blogosphere. Like many, I want to help make this world a better place, I just don't always know where to start. Thanks for creating this.
